Community Fellows
Community Fellows Program
Community Fellows are professionals in the local community with a strong history of making a positive social impact. Through their expertise, they enhance research and teaching at the University by connecting community and campus on a variety of social concerns. Many Fellows have a robust history partnering with the Center for Social Concerns. Their role as a Fellow provides them an opportunity to build on this history by engaging with Notre Dame faculty, staff, and students in new, more intensive ways, creating essential value for local communities in the process.
Community Fellows play a variety of roles within the Center for Social Concerns in collaboration with the Community-Engaged Learning Program Director, Dave Lassen, Ph.D. Each Community Fellow identifies a major project that they will complete during their time in the program. Fellows can also participate in one or more activities that enhance the life and work of the center and the Fellow, such as consulting on community-engaged courses or collaborating with faculty on community-engaged research initiatives. They are invited to provide their unique perspective throughout center programming, including meeting with Faculty Fellows and Community-Engaged Learning Coordinators, as well as providing input on Community Impact Grant proposals. Each Fellow is invited to present on their project and overall work in the local community during an Engaged Learning Forum (ELF).
