Summer Labor Fellowship
The Center for Social Concerns is pleased to announce the Summer Labor Fellowships: full-time, paid opportunities for select Notre Dame undergraduates (rising seniors, juniors, and sophomores) to spend the summer of 2022 engaged in labor-focused, project-based work while developing their skills in organizing, research, advocacy, diplomacy, and communications.
Organizations
Each fellow in this inaugural class will be placed with a national partner of the center’s Higgins Labor Program:
- Economic Policy Institute (Washington, DC)
- Unite Here Local 1 (Chicago)
- International Labor Organization (canceled): We regret to report that the ILO position has been canceled due to reasons internal to that organization.
Details
Summer Labor Fellowships offer 8 consecutive weeks of full-time, on-site work with an organization promoting labor solidarity, workplace dignity, and the common good.
Fellows receive a $5,000 stipend. They assume responsibility for finding their own transportation and lodging, though they may consult the center or their on-site partner for advice on finding affordable housing and transportation options.
Starting dates will be negotiated with each partner.
NOTE: Due to pandemic-related health and safety concerns, the partner may choose to convert this fellowship to a remote position.
Application Process
Applicants should submit the Summer Labor Fellowship Application using the links below for each position of interest no later than Sunday, March 13, 2022; we hope to notify fellows of placements the week of April 4, 2022.
