Assistant Director, Academic Affairs

Adam Gustine serves as the assistant director for academic affairs at the Center for Social Concerns. In this role, Adam directs the center’s work in justice education which cultivates moral imagination, practical wisdom, and the courage to act through a range of curricular and co-curricular programs for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. 

Adam’s teaching, writing and research focuses on justice in local contexts-particularly concerning economic questions. A project on theologically rooted economic ethics, Ecosystems of Jubilee, will be published in April 2023 (with co-author José Humphreys). His first book was Becoming a Just Church: Cultivating Communities of God’s Shalom (Intervarsity Press, 2019). His doctorate from Missio Seminary (Philadelphia, Pa.) focused on the development of leadership in diverse and urban contexts. Adam serves on the board of the Beacon Community Resource Center, a non-profit focused on collaboration and community transformation, specifically with returning citizens. He is married to Ann and they live in South Bend with their three kids; Josiah, Levi, and Nina.
